Space Camp 2019

Space Camp Scholarship Information

Space Camp Website

Available for North Tama students currently in grades 6-11.

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 4, 2019

Confidential references from 2 different teachers are required as well as the application and are also due FEBRUARY 4, 2019. Students and families will not have access to the completed references.

A committee consisting of community members and teachers will make decisions about the scholarships by mid-February.

These very valuable Space Camp Scholarships pay for approximately $1,100 in tuition and registration for each student.

There will also be funds available for reimbursing families for transportation costs up to $150.  (Families are responsible for transportation to and from Space Camp. There will be no one from the scholarship committee or the North Tama School transporting or attending Space Camp with the students. Space Camp is located in Huntsville, Alabama, which is approximately 760 miles (approximately 12 hours driving time one way) from Traer, IA. Families may choose to drive their student to and from camp, or families may choose to fly their student to and from camp.  The reimbursement of transportation costs of up to $300 is to help with that expense.)

Families must pay $200 towards the total scholarship cost, so that students and families have an investment in attending. Checks due to North Tama by March 29, 2019.

Families are responsible for paying for lost scholarship funds due to non-attendance at Space Camp. Students who receive scholarships do not have to attend camp at the same time, but they may.
