About Us

Our organization was started in 1945 in Chicago, IL. It was known as FHA, or Future Homemakers of America. The name was changed to FCCLA, or Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, in 1999. FCCLA is the only Career and Technical in-school organization with the family as its central focus. Members have the chance to become involved at a community, district, state, and national level.

The North Tama Chapter has had 24 members advance to Nationals with STAR Events, 10 members become state officers, one a national officer candidate, and another that participated in the Japanese exchange program funded by the Kikkoman Corporation.
