Elementary Back to school night is Wednesday, August 22, from 5:30pm to 6:45pm.

Please plan to ATTEND with your students,

MEET their teachers,

FIND their desks, and

PUT their supplies away!

7th grade

7th grade orientation is Tuesday, August 21 at 6:30pm in the MPR. Please plan to attend with your students. You'll meet Mr. Meister, Ms. Reisner, and many of the JH teachers. Students will get their schedule, take a tour, and have a chance to practice opening their locker. You'll sign their iPad permission sheet; they'll get their iPads during the first few days of school.

The JH coaches are aware of this meeting and practices will be done in time for your students to be on time.

8th grade

Please plan to attend the iPad checkout meeting on Monday, August 20 at 7:00pm in the gym. We'll have a second meeting at 8:00pm. See the iPad section below for more details.

Schedules are visible in PowerSchool and we will be emailing students and parents a copy of schedules, which includes their locker information, around a week before school starts. Students can request a printed copy starting August 20.

9th grade

9th grade orientation is Wednesday, August 22 at 7:00pm in the MPR. Please plan to attend with your student. Students will be taking their iPads home from this meeting.

HS Coaches are aware of this meeting and practices will be done in time for students to be on time.

10th, 11th, 12th grade

iPad checkout meetings are Monday, August 20 at 7:00pm (8th and 10th grade) or 8:00pm (11th and 12th grade). If you have multiple students, you only need to attend one meeting. See the iPad section below for more details.

Schedule questions

Schedules are visible in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If your HS student has a schedule change request, here’s what they need to know. If students need their PowerSchool sign-in information, please contact Suzanne or Trish. 

•    Students can fill out a schedule change request form, available in the HS and Main Offices. 
•    Change request forms will be dated/timestamped, and will be reviewed in the order received starting August 20, 2018. 
•    We will not always be able to make change requests, as we need to consider section sizes.
•    If your student needs to talk to Mrs. Reisner with questions about scheduling, the form will include space for them to indicate they have questions, and she will be in contact with them.

We will email schedules to students about a week before school, that will have their locker information on it. Students in grades 7 and 9 will get printed copies during orientation, other students can request printed copies starting August 20, 2018.
 

7th grade

You'll fill out forms at orientation, but students won't receive their iPads until the first days of school.

9th grade

You'll get your iPads at your orientation.

Everyone else

Because we are getting new iPads this summer, we are asking all parents and students to attend a meeting with Mr. Meister, our new principal, to review expectations.

There are 2 sessions available on Monday, August 20, 2018, location to be announced later. 

7:00pm: Grades 8 and 10
8:00pm: Grades 11 and 12

If you have students in multiple grades, you only need to attend one of the sessions and can pick either time.

If you will be attending 7th or 9th grade orientations and have students in other grades, you can pick up devices for other students at your orientation and do not need to attend the meeting on Monday.

Does my student need to attend the meeting on August 20? 
Yes, the students should attend so they are reminded of the iPad expectations. If they cannot be there, a parent should still be at the meeting and we will have the student meet with Mr. Meister during the first days of school.

Can a student attend the meeting without a parent? 
Yes, they can come, but they will not be able to take their iPad home until the parent has signed the acknowledgement form.

What if a parent can’t make it to the iPad checkout meeting?

Bus route information has been emailed to parents with bus riders. If you didn't get it or can't find the email, please contact Sandy Dengler: sdengler@n-tama.k12.ia.us.

Physicals

Don't forget that students must have their physicals, concussions forms, and good conduct acknowledgement forms turned in BY THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE. If you need copies of forms, you can find them here.

JH Football

Practice Starts Monday Aug. 20th - 4:00 to 6:00 pm - 
Meet in the locker room
Bring water bottle
Wear athletic shorts, shirt and cleats

Parent Meeting Monday Aug. 20th 6:00 pm in the Lunchroom

JH Volleyball

First day of practice: Monday, August 27, after school in the MPR with a parent meeting after practice at 5:30.  

JH XC

Can be practicing now, first mandatory practice is the first day of school.
